Serving the Community

Back Pack Pals

At Allensville UMC we have teamed up with the United Way, The Christian Help Center, and North End Elementary School to provide weekend meals to students in grades K-6 who are at risk of not having enough food.  We receive food and monetary donations from the church members, The Christian Help Center, and the Food Bank of NC. Please join us in this worthwhile mission. We pack bags from the start of the school year in September until the last full week the kids are in school in June. We also make up special bags for the children to have during the holidays. Our coordinator is Danna Coble.

Backpack Pals are continuing to provide food for Backpack Pals kids in the entire county on weekends (and Person County Schools is providing food for pickup during the week). We will continue to need food/financial donations to support this ministry. Folks may drop off donations in the box in the church foyer. You can also donate financially by giving online at “Online Giving” and designating your donation for “backpack pals” or by mailing a check made out to Allensville UMC with a “backpack pals” in the memo line. While we are not meeting up to pack at this time, backpack pals continues to provide food to students at North End Elementary school.

PUMP – (Person United Methodist Parishes)

PUMP was formed many years ago as a gathering of the United Methodist Churches in Person County for the purpose of enhancing mission and outreach. From PUMP the Christian Help Center was formed. It also supports the local parishes with benevolence funding, as well as several non-profit organizations. PUMP is the model for the conference mission network.

Annual Events include: an annual pulpit exchange of pastors, the Stop Hunger Now Event, Welcoming and sending of itinerant pastors, monthly food collections, and the annual Christmas gift bags for the Christian Help Center

Through our connection in worship and mission we seek to live out the great commandment of Jesus Christ: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

PUMP meets the first Tuesday of every month.  If you are interested in joining this group please contact Pastor Rod.
